So I love the WIldflower Cafe… its arguably the best place to see live music in Bethlehem… However… it has the WORST lighting ever. Lucky for me… they like the grunge look and an ISO of 1000 is just fine for that
SongKick Site Definitely for Live Music Lovers
Article by Techy Geek
Live music lovers may show a bit of reluctance to pay for their favorite tunes, but they are certainly turning up in craze for live music shows – this was based on the latest box office numbers published by eMarketer. Imagine this – concert ticket sales this year are expected to reach billion and that is 10% more than the 2006 figure.
SongKick, a new music website, is a fresh startup site looking for ways to capitalize on the growing live music show market by providing live music lovers a simple way to search for and discover live shows of your favorite artists along with their cheapest concert tickets possible. The momentum for SongKick grew out of its founders’ frustrations and desire over a no single concert and music show site providing a complete list of all the concerts and music shows they really want to see. There would be some on LiveNation, Ticketmaster, and there are still for resale at StubHub. Hence, SongKick, a comprehensive and complete database that tracks music shows and concerts as they are listed on 14 different ticketing websites and across a great deal of blogs, was created. Currently, SongKick only covers the U.S. and U.K.
With SongKick, you can search for shows and concerts from the database. You can also track blog posts and shows about your favorite artists, or download the plug-in SongKicker, which tracks the artists and singers as you listen to them automatically. SongKicker pulls these artists and singers from Windows Media Player, iTunes, and Winamp. The SongKicker does the process in about 3 to 5 minutes and adds the artists and singers to the tours you are tracking. Fret not because you have the option to delete the bands behind your musical guilty pleasure that is not really your style and taste.
The SongKick site can also recommend new artists and singers to you. However, their recommendation engine works a little bit different from the others. It doesn’t generate its recommendation from its user base, like the Last fm. The recommendations are also not generated through careful analysis like what Pandora does. Instead, it crawls in music blogs and sites like Wikipedia to pick up related singers, bands, and artists based on the positive or negative associations between different bands.
However, the real payoff for SongKick is purchasing tickets. Similar to SideStep for airline tickets, SongKick allows users to search for the cheapest concert and music shows. Its search engine extends to different sources for primary and secondary concert ticketing market. Sorry to say, SongKick does not really expose the prices for each concert and show in their main search engine. All you need to do is click through the website and compare the prices yourself. SongKick price may range anywhere from USD0.5 to USD5 for every ticket sold.
Lastly, SongKick has packaged its ticketing search engine as a very simple and effective affiliate sales program for any type of music lovers. Simply by installing SongKicker, a little plug-in, music bloggers can sell their tickets related to the singers and artists they write about automatically through the links found at the bottom of each blog post. The system them searches for the right artists, singers, or bands, by scanning the blog posts using both positive and negative associations technology their recommendation engine also uses. The positive posts about an artist, singer, or band are often coupled tickets; however, a negative reference smashing Britney Spears or Paris Hilton won’t really start pushing their tickets on your fans. SongKick is indeed easy and with the new technology it uses to make searching for cheap tickets, it will definitely be the new favorite of live music lovers.
