How to get good deals on Pro Audio equipment
Article by Sibusiso
IF you are looking to buy new pro audio equipment, whether it be speakers, amplifiers, microphones, mixers, cabling etc. Do take sufficient time to check as many options as your time allows you. Always ask enough questions to ensure that you are better prepared should anything happen that you had not previously forseen.
A good idea when buying pro audio equipment is to try and buy a start up set rather than upgrading. The reason for this is because some companies promote “start up” packages that usually have all the basics that you will need for a cheaper price than if you buy all the items individually. Many such packages have speakers, amplifies, cables, mixers, speaker stands, microphones etc and are usually all from the same brand as to maintain a consistent sound quality. If on the other hand you are looking to upgrade, it wouldn’t hurt to let the salesperson who is helping you know what your current system is and why you feel that you need a newer one. Sometimes they may be able to advise a simple device or component that won’t neccesistate that you buy an entirely new system, this can save you a lot of money. Another option depending on the policy of the store that you are buying from is that, they may allow you to trade in your old system and give you the new one that you looking for, provided that you pay a certain amount(usually the difference) towards the brand new system.
As always the best thing to do when looking for any equipment is to ask as many questions as you possibly can because this will give the salesperson a clear indication of not only what equipment you are looking for but also, how and why you plan to use it, which will allow him/her to provide you with the best possible advice that they can offer.
If you are looking for great deals always make sure that you are as clear as possible in what you want to use your equipment for, as salespeople often know a bit more than you think you know and they can give you tips that could save you lots and lots of money.
Last but not least always, always, always make sure that you know how to use the equipment that you are planning to buy, if you do not know then ask for a full demonstration or find out if you can be given training over a certain period of time. There’s no use buying something only because you are getting it for a bargain, yet you do not know how to use it. It will break and you will have to use more money to get it fixed or replaced depending on what it’s warranty covers, usually “not knowing how to use equipment” does not get covered by guarantees or warranties.

Audio Equipment question by jack l: I believe I shorted my car when trying to take out car audio equipment. How do I get the car to start?
I had two amps in my car, a sub, and four spks. The spks were putting out a very loud, very high pitched noise, like that of a DJ scratching records, so I turned the car off and unplugged the amp connected to the spks. When I went to start the car, I heard the bass thump once, and then everything went dead. I cannot start the car. However, when I put the key in, the car beep signaling that the doors are opened still goes off, so electricity is still flowing. Can anyone help me restart my car?
